Norway Princess’s son faces rape and abuse investigation

Police say the case has now reached a stage where the prosecution must decide whether to press charges.
Norwegian police have handed over a case involving Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess, to prosecutors after a 10-month investigation into serious allegations including rape, assault and abuse.
Høiby, 28, who has no royal title or official role, was arrested three times in 2024 August, September and Novemberand is suspected of three rapes and 23 other offences.
Police say the case has now reached a stage where the prosecution must decide whether to press charges.
“I cannot go into further detail about the number of victims in the case beyond confirming that it is a double-digit number,” police attorney Andreas Kruszewski said on Friday.
The Oslo Police District stated that the investigation included numerous witness interviews, several searches, and a review of large volumes of digital material.
Høiby was questioned several times between autumn 2024 and spring 2025, and according to police, he “cooperated with the police”.
Among the offences Høiby is suspected of are four counts of sexually offensive behavior, one count of abuse in a close relationship, and two counts of bodily harm.
Some of the sexual offence cases have been dropped due to “statute of limitations and evidentiary reasons,” police added.
His lawyer, Petar Sekulic, said Høiby is “taking the accusations very seriously but doesn’t acknowledge any wrongdoing in most of the cases – especially the cases regarding sexual abuse and violence.”
The Royal House of Norway has acknowledged the case but declined to comment further, stating that the matter is now being handled through the legal system.
